Wikipedia in short WP is a multilingual web-based free content encyclopedia project written by volunteers from all round the world. It is now a day’s most interesting site. President to general Wiipedian all work there as volunteer. Its article can be created and edited by any according to interest access from any part of the world. Here all had got permission of borderless accessing. WP aims to make people contribute what ever they know. But people of few occasions misunderstand WP because of its openness.
WP was founded as an offshoot of Nupedia. Nupedia had an elaborate system of peer review and highly qualified contribution. But preparing article was very slow. JIMMY WALES, founder of Neptune, and Laeey Sanger an employee of the Nupedia project, both of the started finding different way to supplement Nupedia with more open.
On January 2, 2001Sanger had a conversation with Kovitz, a computer programmer, in San Diego. Kovtiz presented a wiki concept in detail. That more open and less formal concept stroke Sanger’s mind. After that Sanger easily pursued Wale. Nupedia’s first wiki went for online on January 10. The new project was given the name “Wikipedia” and lunched on its own domain, wikipedia.com on January 15(now called “wikipedia day”). Wales donated requires ban-width and server for the project. The domain gradually changed to the present wikipedia.org. When it was lonched as non-profitable foundation.
In May 2001, a wave of non- English WP was lunched- in Catalan, Chinese, Dutch, Esperanto, French etc.
WP is written by people like us and it is a non-profitable organization located in US. Board member of Wikipedia is selected by other wikipedian. Here voting right from all over the world. This post is open for all but experience is the first priority. People from all over the world can join as wikipedian and get all equal right like other country. Wp keeps all record and provide them different amenities according to seniority and exertion. Now it has 400 members across the world. Who have one year experience at WK can edit event page but it is restricted for new member.
In here some other management issues are controlled by a set of WP Administrator. They have supplementary type of management power such as access to different restricted page, authority to block and unblock user. In addition, they have other identity, they are trusted entity. When a wikipedian established himself as a reliable person, he can apply for Wikiadmin-ship. WP promotes his statues to administration.
WP needs few steps to make an encyclopedia article. An article for first time is referred as stub class. Then people keep contribution there and reach to start class. Gradually go to b class, good article nominee, good article, further article nominees and further articles. All articles reach to next step by poor review of expert wikipedians.
This side tries to avoid vandalism, advertisement and promotion. Wikipedians here have a strong option called “watch list” for protection from Vandalism and fake edit. This fake can’t stay here because one and more wikipedians watch some how. This vandalism is done by deleting contents. If it is reverted by watcher, WP administrators block his/her id or IP. Here software also works as helping hand for sometimes.
As anybody can provide information so here justification is very important. It is very preferable to take serious note from further article and Good article. User can also take information from reference articles. User can take information from B class article but need a trace of history. If any user is using IP address he can compare last and second last edition. But most strong practice to read from discussion page as it gives a conscious idea.
